Caring for the environment and sustainable development are our raison d’etre. Since Sertego was created, we have aspired to be one step ahead of environmental legislation, encouraging progress and care for the environment in all of our practices.
For increasingly clean air and water
One of the real positive impacts of SERTEGO’s activities is the prevention of ocean dumping and discharge. We are leaders in the management, treatment, and recovery of the oil waste that ships produce. With our activity, we prevent this waste from being released into the sea, which minimises its impact on the marine environment
At Sertego, we also contribute to the reduction of emissions by regenerating used oil. With this treatment, we create industrial lubricants and avoid these oils from being used as fuel in incineration plants, with the emissions that this entails.
For a world where waste is a resource
We strongly believe in the concept of a circular economy, and offer treatment, recycling, and recovery services for many different types of waste in order to convert them into products and contribute to their inclusion in the industrial cycle. SERTEGO has placed particular importance on selling recycled industrial lubricants and fuel, which involves fewer natural resources being used and avoids fossil fuel depletion.
For innovative, quality products
At Sertego, we know that the best way to contribute to the circular economy is to offer quality fuels and lubricant bases to the market. For this reason, the search for innovative solutions is one of our priorities. We stand out for being one of Spain’s leading waste management companies in terms of waste recovered as a percentage of waste managed.

Carbon footprint
Sertego quantifies its impact on climate change annually thanks to the calculation of the Carbon Footprint of all its facilities and activities.
To do this, the company has its own urge CO2® tool from its parent company Urbaser, which is the only tool in the sector capable of integrating the GHG emissions produced by its entire waste water and waste management chain and identifying emissions, not only on a corporate level, but also by activity, facility, and process.
Each year, since 2013, both SERTEGO’s Carbon Footprint and its GHG management system are verified annually by an external entity, in accordance with ISO 14064:2012, that checks the emissions nationally. In addition, Sertego is registered in the Carbon Footprint Registry of the Spanish Office for Climate Change under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food, and the Environment (MAPAMA, for its Spanish original), which issued Sertego with the Green House Gas emissions quantifying company distinguishing seal.
